Closure of Barnsley branch

We have made the decision to close our Barnsley branch office with effect from 31 January 2025 however, this will not affect any ongoing matter as our staff are simply relocating to our Wakefield office at 1 Crown Court, Wakefield, WF1 2SU. There will be no change to the conduct of any ongoing files and you can continue to liaise with us using same contact details. Please rest assured that our service to you will not be affected by this change.

In regard to new business or any quote we have provided for work, this will remain the same and any agreement we have about hourly rates or costs will also remain unchanged.

Important notice relating to stamp duty land tax

Following the Budget Announcement on 30 October 2024, the higher rate of stamp duty on purchases of additional residential properties by individuals and purchases of residential properties by companies, will increase from 3% to 5% above the standard residential rates as from 31 October 2024. Furthermore, the current stamp duty land tax temporary increase to the thresholds is due to end on 31 March 2025. We cannot guarantee any completion before the expiry of the SDLT relief on 31 March 2025. We must therefore advise you to plan your finances accordingly to take this into account. GM Wilson Solicitors Limited will not accept any liability for any direct or indirect financial loss because of completion taking place after 31 March 2025.
